Arrival & First Months

A successful move depends on practical details: arrival, housing, registration, first workday, communication with the employer and early follow-up. We keep the first months structured.

Overview

A successful move to Germany does not end with an employer interview or a signed contract. The first weeks matter: arrival, housing, registration, health insurance, first workday, communication with the employer and early problem-solving.

This support area explains how workiOn helps keep the transition structured.

What arrival support can include

• Arrival planning with the employer

• Practical first-week checklist

• Coordination around travel timing

• Communication about housing readiness

• First-working-day preparation

• Basic orientation on next practical steps

• Follow-up during the first months after starting work

Typical first steps in Germany

• Arrive at the agreed location

• Move into the prepared accommodation or temporary housing

• Start employer onboarding

• Complete practical registrations and administrative steps where applicable

• Understand workplace rules, schedule and contact persons

• Raise problems early instead of waiting until they become serious

What workiOn supports

• Keeping candidate and employer aligned before arrival

• Helping candidates understand what happens next

• Coordinating practical questions with the employer

• Checking in during the first months

• Identifying communication problems early

• Supporting a stable start in the workplace

What the employer is responsible for

The German employer is responsible for the employment relationship, workplace onboarding, salary, working conditions and employer-side obligations. Where housing or initial support is part of the arrangement, the employer must organise this clearly and responsibly.

What the candidate is responsible for

• Staying reachable by email and WhatsApp

• Providing correct information

• Keeping documents available

• Attending agreed appointments

• Arriving on time

• Following workplace rules

• Communicating problems early and honestly
